  • Eager to study and assimilate new scientific and technical knowledge.
  • Technical team lead that can perform effectively across nationalities, cultures and time-zones.
  • I build my own website entirely in 3D. This is a perpetual on-going project.
  • Interest: automata, computational complexity, 3D graphics, cryptography, mathematics, physics, chess, puzzles, music.

  • I won Silver at Computerfest 1989, a district programming competition.
  • I was top student in my high school topping 4 of the 5 subjects.
  • I represented my school at the National Mathematics Olympiad 1989.
  • I completed a pioneer part-time Master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1.5 years instead of the usual 2.5 years. It was a radical program that the authorities were trying, and I had the opportunity to be a part of it. This was under the scholarships of Motorola and the National Science and Technology Board.
  • I was selected for the Singapore Economic Development Board strategic development programme to work with Linden Lab in San Francisco for 6 months, after which I was one of the pioneers to bring in the technology to Singapore. I was the first in Singapore who managed to solve all the interview questions successfully.
  • D'Crypt's interview questions are notoriously difficult, and I missed a perfect solution by a pair of parentheses.
  • I was awarded Silver, Public Service Excellent Service Award, 2012.
  • I won bronze at the 2012 Halliburton Programming Competition.
  • I also won a few prizes in story writing, logo design and puzzle solving.

D'Crypt

  • D'Crypt develops very high security products, both hardware and software, for military and commercial customers.
Senior Engineer
Since Dec 2022
  • I developed C/C++ embedded software for security products. I defined the interfaces between components, including one for a zero-trust client. This allows secure access to VDI and RDP services in an unsecure environment, allowing Secure Computing Anywhere.

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Innovation Centre

Software Engineer
Jan 2013 - May 2018
  • I was the technical loead for a few C/C++/Javascript projects. Project teams typically consist ofabout 5 developers and data scientists. I defined the system specifications, system architecture and API interfaces. Projects include social media application, High Performance Computing, automated resource allocation and automated attendance tracking.
  • Automated resource allocation is a real-time platform for distributing and allocating consolidated IT resources according to requests and availability. The team consisted of 5 engineers and 2 full-time testers.
  • Automated attendance tracking uses Bluetooth technology to track individuals entering and leaving a specified room, eliminating manual attendance taking. The team consisted of 3 engineers.
Program / Project Manager
Jun 2018 - Nov 2022
  • I managed and delivered various large-scale projects, including managing the timeline, resource allocation and customer communications. I also provided recommendations on staff hiring and appraisal.
  • Two of the AI projects I managed are for predictions of a supply chain material stock estimation and completion time estimation. Each of these involved 2 data scientists and 3 engineers.
  • The Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) product was a $250K project and spans 4 geographic locations around South-East Asia. The customers are major telecommunication providers in the respective countries. We had 1 subject matter expert, 3 engineers and the support team from the vendor Saguna.
  • The Open 5G Program is a $6M mobile network implementation that involved 4 different parties with a total of 20 headcount. The Customer is IMDA in collaboration with Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). This is the first Open Standard 5G Implementation in Singapore.
